David:
Warrior. poet. King.

Facilitator: Michelle Staubs

Cost: $5.00

Sunday Evenings at 6pm beginning January 23rd, 2022

The life of King David is truly fascinating to read on the pages of Scripture! We will journey with David from the pasture land as he cares for his father’s sheep, to the battlefield where he fights Israel’s giant enemy Goliath, to the rocky caves and mountains where he hides from King Saul. From there, we’ll journey to Hebron, and then to his palace in Jerusalem as he takes his place as king! God truly writes the best dramas.

David is a wonderful example to us all, but he was not perfect. Scripture records his errors for all to see. Our lives are a collection of decisions. Some good and some bad. Through all of it, God calls David “A man after His own heart.” As we journey together to study David, it is our prayer that we will examine our own hearts and seek to be women who are pursuing the heart of our God.

The Book of Numbers contains the story of God’s people newly freed from Egypt’s shackles and wandering toward the promised land. It also explains God’s presence among His beloved.  Discover how even when they rebelled, God’s love and promises remained. It’s in that love and those promises the children of Israel found their identity and where we must find ours today.

Hebrews was a sermon for a specific people and culture in the midst of martyrdom and persecution, but is also so relevant for us today, reminding us to continue walking toward Jesus regardless of our culture or our circumstances. Journey through this bridge between the Old and New Testaments to get to the heart of the matter: Jesus is our accessible King. He is not a faraway God, but an up-close Redeemer who draws near to us.

  • Taking every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ

  • Shifting the focus of our minds from our circumstances to God

  • Fighting toxic thoughts with weapons of humility, silence, and delight

  • Escaping our comfort zones with weapons of connection, intentionality and gratitude

  • Learning to forget what's behind so we can move ahead

  • Defeating anxiety with a mind like Christ's

Join us as we seek to exercise our God-given power to shift negative thinking patterns and take back control of our thoughts and emotions.
