I had the privilege to be a Staff Volunteer at Student Life Camp in Cedarville, Ohio last week. It was a powerful week as our very own Pastor Grant Staubs spoke to over six hundred kids from several surrounding states.
As a Staff Volunteer, I was able to see firsthand the lives that were changed last week. I had several conversations with students who expressed how camp changed their perspective, and grew their love for God. Many explained they were saved during their time at camp. This made me realize how the Lord can use camp in powerful ways to reach students.
However, I had several heartbreaking conversations with students who are going through a lot. It was so sad to hear what these young students are going through at such a young age. My perspective was changed to see that our children need prayer for guidance, wisdom, and to find the Lord.
"All your children shall be taught by the Lord,
And great shall be the peace of your children."
"Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it."
"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth"
3 John 1:4
PRAYER TIP #28 - Pray for the Next Generations
As I was praying what to write, the bridge of The Blessing by Kari Jobe & Cody Carnes kept coming to mind:
"May His favor be upon you
And a thousand generations
And your family and your children
And their children, and their children"
This should be our prayer for our children and the next generations yet to come. This world is evil, broken, and there is an enemy that is coming after the next generations. We need God's favor upon us all. Isaiah 54:13 is an encouragement for us to teach our children and the students we are around, about our good God.
Small group teacher, guide your students to go to God. Be an example by guiding them through scripture. Be a friend that points your friends to the Gospel. Memorize scripture together and pray for each other. Mother, train your children to love the Lord above all else.
3 John 1:4 explains that God has great joy when His children are walking in His truth. The same goes for us. It is incredible for a parent or mentor to watch the younger one they have poured into take the steps to follow Christ. To see the next generations walk in truth, and see God's love and grace flow out of them is beautiful.
When we come together in prayer for our next generation, imagine the impact these children will make on our world. Let's pray that our children will walk in the Truth of the Gospel, and find salvation through Faith in Jesus Christ.
