Pray for your Brothers and Sisters in Christ

The week after Christmas leading up to the new year was always my favorite time of the holiday season growing up. I have two brothers, one is older and one is younger than me. After all the running around to different family members' houses for the Christmas season, we were wishing to enjoy our Christmas gifts. The week after Christmas was filled with my brothers and I playing with the new craft kit, Lego set, or sports equipment we got for Christmas.

Being the middle child, I had a best friend and protector in my older brother. My younger brother was my best friend who always wanted to play whatever we agreed on. Although we didn’t always get along or share with each other like we were taught, we always ended up being friends and loving each other at the end of the day.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God;

and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

1 John 4:7

Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another;

love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for

evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you

were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

1 Peter 3:8-9

Prayer Tip #51 - Pray for your Brothers and Sisters in Christ

As my brothers and I have become adults, our relationships have changed. I believe we are closer now than we were growing up. We are able to have light-hearted and deep conversations about various topics. My older brother, who is wise beyond his years, always says, “No matter what we go through or talk about, we love each other.”

This week I wanted to write about family, pointing out our brothers and sisters in Christ. 1 John 4:7 points out that we are called to love one another. 1 Peter says to have compassion and love as brothers do, and be tenderhearted towards each other. These are helpful Scriptures to remember when we find ourselves surrounded by our brothers and sisters in Christ.

We are called to love and be unified as Christians. We are called to pray and extend compassion to our brothers and sisters in Christ just like Jesus extended to you. As the year 2022 is tomorrow, let’s remember to love one another this year regardless of what the year holds.

Prayer Points - (Pray over these requests)

  • Ask the Lord to give you compassion towards the people around you.

  • Pray to love your brothers and sisters in Christ.

  • Pray to grow closer to your brothers and sisters in Christ.

  • Ask God to remind you to love others just as He loves us.

Suggested Prayer - (Pray these words in your heart or out loud):

Dear God,

Thank You for Your everlasting love. Thank You for showing me what love is through Jesus. I am grateful that I get to love so many people in my life, from my family to my brothers and sisters in Christ. Lord, as the year closes and the new year approaches, please give me the remembrance to love the way You do. Help me to show compassion and tenderheartedness to those I encounter in the year of 2022. Lord, no matter what this new year holds, I surrender to You and Your perfect will. Please put people in my life that we can pray, love, and support each other. Help me to grow in Your love. In Jesus' name, Amen!

Happy New Year!
