A new year is a time for every one to start afresh. The majority of people in the world set New Year's resolutions or goals. There's a desire to better ourselves when a new year begins, whether that be financially, mentally, physically, etc. However, the BEST growth that you can have in your life is spiritual growth. I recently heard Pastor Grant Staubs say, "The best year in someone's life can be the year they grow spiritually."
Prayer Tip #2 - Pray for Spiritual Growth this Year
"That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;"
- Colossians 1:10
The above verse shows us how to walk worthy of God - by pleasing Him, being fruitful in obedience, and growing in the knowledge of God. Growing in the knowledge of God means pursuing a deeper faith and walk with God. What's exciting about the Christian faith is that there is always room for spiritual growth! We can all continually grow in our personal relationships with the Lord day by day.
So, what is one practical step you can take today to grow spiritually? It may be setting aside 15 minutes to read the Bible, praying to Him more today than you usually do, or even choosing to read just 1 Bible verse before you go to bed tonight. Ask the Lord to help you grow spiritually this year. John 14:13-14 says, "And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it."
PRAYER POINTS- (Pray over these requests)
That God would reveal to you an area where you need spiritual growth, and help you grow in that specific thing.
That God would help you follow Him day by day.
That God would help you grow in obedience and in the knowledge of Him (deeper faith).
That God would give you a love for Him and His Word that's stronger than anything else.
SUGGESTED PRAYER-
Dear God,
I come before You now in the Name of Jesus, and I thank You that there is always a next step to take in my spiritual walk with You. I thank You that I am never the same when I spend time with You in Your Word and in prayer, that I am able to grow! I pray that You would help me grow spiritually this year, that I would be a different person at the end of 2021 than I am now. I commit this year afresh to You.
