Remember the Lord's Faithfulness - 3.26.21

Have you ever needed an item from another room, only to walk in that room and completely forget what item you were needing? This happens to me all too often. I'm distracted by my husband asking me a question, my sweet baby saying "hey Mama", or noticing a mess that might need to be cleaned up.

It's all too easy to forget sometimes. I've been reading in Deuteronomy about how God wants His chosen people, the Israelites, to REMEMBER His faithfulness in their past. "The Israelites are commanded to remember four things: God’s faithfulness, God’s holiness, God’s blessings, and God’s warnings." (-gotquestions.org)

“For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him?...Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren,"

- Deuteronomy 4:7, 9

Prayer Tip #13 – Remember the Lord's Faithfulness

Just as God told the Israelites not to "forget the things your eyes have seen," we also need not forget His faithfulness in our lives. When hard times come, I know it's hard for me to remember what all the Lord has specifically done in my life - how He has been faithful to deliver, unless I take the time to REMEMBER.

It's easier to move forward in life when we take time to look back and see what God has done in the past. What specific prayers have you prayed that the Lord has answered? How has God provided for you when you didn't know if you could "make ends meet"? In what way has God delivered you from a certain trial? Is there a person that He has placed in your life that you know is a gift specifically from Him? Take time to REMEMBER what God has done for you! Write it down in a journal or save a list in the Notes on your phone so you won't forget!

Christian evangelist George Muller once said, "If the Lord fails me at this time, it will be the first time." What great peace we can have in life as a child of God, if we just take time to remember how the LORD has been and is so faithful to us.

Prayer Points –

  • Thank God for His faithfulness.

  • Praise God for specific ways He has been faithful in your life.

  • Pray that you would always remember that He is faithful.

  • Pray for the Lord to "teach them [His faithfulness] to your children and your grandchildren". (Deut. 4:9)

SUGGESTED PRAYER –

Dear God, I thank You for Your faithfulness. I thank You that 2 Timothy 2:13 tells us, "If we are faithless, He remains faithful;..." I praise You that You will NEVER fail. Lord, will You help me to remember how You have specifically been faithful in my life? I know there are too many times to even count. Let me remember so I can teach my family about You and how You provide. You are so good, and I praise You.

In Jesus' Name, Amen.
