The Miracle in the Waiting - 4.9.21

How often do we come before the Lord in prayer and ask Him for something? Have you ever prayed and asked God to help you pass a test? Have you prayed that He would help you get your dream job? God hears even our simplest requests and He truly cares about the tenderest details of our lives. Sometimes the Lord grants us what we ask Him for; but the reality is, sometimes He answers our prayers in unexpected ways. When we give our requests to God, He answers us with either "yes", "no" or "wait." This compels some to ask the question: "if God loves us and wants the best for us, why doesn't He answer all of our prayers the way that we want Him to?"

God's Word says that His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. In this time, and on this side of eternity, it is impossible for us to fully understand all that God is doing and what His purposes are amidst different circumstances we face.

Prayer Tip # 15 - The Miracle in the Waiting

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,

and all these things shall be added to you.

Matthew 6:33

It is important for us as Christians to be asking a different question altogether. How is God molding and shaping me during this time of waiting? He is always doing a variety of things in the quiet, and we must learn to shift our thinking. It's possible that He wants us to see Him more, He might be trying to teach us contentment in the things that we already have, or even the things we don't actually need, but we think we do.

In the meantime, God is longing for us to read His Scriptures, to get to know Him more, commune with other believers and hold steadfast and immovable in our pursuit of Him. We have to see the miracle in the waiting and trust Him more, while being strengthened in our Spirit!

Prayer Points –

  • Ask God to help you to trust Him more.

  • Allow Him to fill you with His peace that surpasses all understanding.

  • Believe in your heart that God is doing a mighty work in you while you're waiting.

  • Thank Him that He is a good Father and that He has a plan and purpose for your life.

SUGGESTED PRAYER –

Lord, thank You for sending Your Son to die for us so that we may come before You and be with You in prayer. We ask You to help us, in Jesus' Name, to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness. Help us grow in our trust in You, Father. You are mighty and powerful in all Your ways. Help us to lean not on our own understanding, but to acknowledge You in all our ways. Though we may not understand why things happen in our lives, we are confident and assured in Your good plan for our lives. Help us to walk in light of Your truth today, Lord.

In Jesus' Name, amen.
