REGISTRATION FOR BASKETBALL:

WINTER BASKETBALL

Mid-Way Baptist offers Basketball programs for children from ages 4 to 12 years old. Our Basketball leagues are designed to teach and develop a player's skills while incorporating good sportsmanship with a positive Christian influence. We encourage you to reach out to other families in your community and invite them to register for this exciting, fun, and healthy sports opportunity.

We believe that it is important for parents to be involved in their children’s overall development. Volunteering your time is a great way to let your child know that you are committed to them. If you are interested in getting involved as a Coach, please contact Kevin Hinton (kevin.hinton@mid-way.com) for an application. Each team requires a Head Coach and Assistant Coach.

Our Basketball League consists of recreational/semi-competitive play for children from 4 - 12 years old. The league will consist of 3 groupings. (Ages 4-6 years, 7-9 years, and 10-12 years). These groupings may change based upon the number of children that register and participate in our league. We do occasionally allow players to "play up"; based upon their advanced skill level. This is at the discretion of the league Director.

Teams will practice once per week for one hour. League practice sessions will occur on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. There will be two sessions on each of these days – 6:00 to 7:00 and 7:00 to 8:00. Your child will be assigned to one of these days and to a specific hour for the duration of the league. Practices will begin the week of December 2nd. You will be notified of your scheduled
practice time prior to that start date. Please ensure your child is ready to participate by providing the necessary sports equipment prior to their first practice.

Games will begin January 4, 2025 and conclude February 8, 2025. Our Basketball season runs for 6 concurrent weeks. Games will be played on Saturdays between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm and will last for 1 hour. Game schedules will be emailed to parents.

Only children who have registered and paid the registration fee may participate. NO EXCEPTIONS. (Registration is open from October 6th until November 10th .)

All games will be played at Mid-Way Baptist Church.

Ages 4 - 6 & 7 - 9 groupings will play 5 vs. 5 and court is cross court style basketball. Every player will be given the opportunity to play at least 1/2 of each game. The fee for this league is $95 of which includes a jersey, referee fees, and an "end of the season" participation gift.

Our Basketball league is coed. We focus on good sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill development. You can expect your child to be taught each of these important life skills. We will also work with them to develop basic skills such as foul shots, passing, dribbling and, man to man defense. As they advance, they will be taught more advanced drills and defensive and offensive skills.

TEAM PLACEMENTS
Our goal is to create “equally skilled teams” and accommodate parents when possible. If siblings are participating in the same league, then we endeavor to place them on the same team, if parents desire. We will also try to allow team preference as long as team roster space is available. This is at league Director's discretion!

EQUIPMENT
Equipment requirements for this league include tennis shoes. Game jersey and shorts will be provided.

SPORTSMANSHIP
Parents, please remember that participation in our Sports program is a privilege and not a right. Our expectation is that parents will respect and appreciate our volunteer coaches, officials, and Sports Pastor. At all times, please respect our grounds and property. Basketball should be fun for everyone involved. Adults should always be an example to the children watching them.
