Encouragement

Women’s Prayer Team - Week 41

Is there someone you know who speaks life into you at just the right time? Maybe you’ve had a stressful week at home or work. Maybe you’ve found yourself just trying to get through the day because of how much you have on your plate. Then, at just the right time, someone encourages you in the way you needed to be encouraged. I have a friend who always seems to know when I need encouragement. She fearlessly loves the Lord and allows Him to speak completely through her. Knowing her has led me to ask myself, “Am I a friend who allows the Lord to point out to me those who need to be encouraged in my life?”

Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.”

Proverbs 12:25

“Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to soul and healing to the bones.”

Proverbs 16:24

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Hebrews 10:24-25

PRAYER TIP #41 – Ask God to Point Out Those Who Need to Be Encouraged in Your Life.

One of the greatest gifts the Lord has given us is relationships. The Lord created us to be relational with each other and most importantly, Him. It is important to surround yourself with those who will encourage you and speak life into you, but it is just as important to be the one who encourages and speaks life into others. We are called to let all that we do be done in love (1 Corinthians 16:14). May this be a challenge for you to seek out those who need encouragement, and allow the Lord to speak through you.

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

John 13: 35

We are able to love and lift one another up because Christ first loved us (1 John 4:19). It is undeniably evident that my friend loves the Lord because of the way she loves God’s people. Having a friend like this challenged myself to be a friend like this. I desire to not only be this kind of friend, but to have the courage to speak truth when it may look or feel uncomfortable. When I place myself in my friend’s shoes, I can’t imagine her always feeling comfortable to go out of her way to be an encouragement to those who need it. The difficult part is, it won’t always be a comfortable thing to do. If our goal is to become more like Jesus, we will be put in situations that may feel uncomfortable but are meant to grow us. We never know how the Lord can use each uncomfortable situation for His glory when we listen to His calling. I pray this will be a challenge and reminder for you to seek out those who need encouragement and have the courage to allow the Lord to speak through you.

Prayer Points:

  • Lord, put people in my life who will speak truth and love into my life.

  • Lord, help me to be a friend who will speak truth and love into others' lives.

  • Lord, point out to me those who need to be encouraged.

  • Lord, give me the courage to speak life and love when it may be outside my comfort zone.

Suggested Prayer - Pray these words in your heart or out loud:

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the people You have put in my life who utter Your truth in everything they do. Lord, continue to place people in my life who will speak truth and love in everything they do. Lord, I pray every day I become more like You. Help me to be a friend that speaks truth and love, not for my own glory but in effort to point them closer to You. Point out to me those You desire for me to be an encouragement to. Lord, give me the strength and courage to reach out and encourage those You place on my heart, even when it may be outside of my comfort zone. May it always be You who speaks through me. Thank You for blessing me with the opportunity to have relationships with other God-fearing women. Thank You for being my constant Refuge! In Jesus Name, Amen.

With Love,

Caroline Arbelaez
