Faithfully Embrace Your Identity In Christ

ree

Over the past few months on our Flourish Mid-Way Women’s social media and blog, we have highlighted what it means to be “in Christ.” The moment you place your faith and trust in Jesus and His finished work on the cross, then you are “In Christ!” God Himself, in the person of the Holy Spirit, physically now resides with us. We are in Him, and He is in us! This means you are not just a better or more complete version of yourself; you have been made an entirely NEW creation.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;

old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

My husband and I have three boys under the age of five. They are loud, energetic, and just so much fun. One of their favorite things to do is build literally anything. We have no shortage of things to build with – blocks, magnet tiles, Legos, etc. Jordan and I always tell them that they need to start with a good and strong foundation for the tower to reach the height they want. I can’t help but think of one of their magnet tile towers as a comparison for my identity in Christ. Knowing and embracing who I am in Christ is foundational to my identity and my purpose. Being “in Christ” is the safe, secure, and strong foundation that I can build my life on.

Luke 6:47-48

Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.

In Christ, we are fully known and fully loved. I live my life FROM acceptance, not for it. Personally, believing this truth has been life-changing to me. I have to reject the lie that I am made righteous by my own morality or good choices. I have been bought with a price by the blood of Jesus. My new identity wasn’t free, it cost Jesus everything. My identity, my purpose, and my value is now rooted in Christ.

Romans 5:8

 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Colossians 2:10

And you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

1 Corinthians 6:20

For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
