Let Prayer Be Your First Line of Defense - 7.17.20

Updated: Nov 10, 2020

Have you ever said "Well, the only thing we can do now is pray"? If so, you're not alone. I have said that phrase so many times. But God is showing me that I need to shift the way I think about prayer. Prayer is not our last resort, but our first line of defense. Our lives will be changed forever when we stop making prayer our backup plan.

3:30 Prayer Challenge - Remember to call someone and pray together in order to strengthen your prayer life. Enlist someone to be your prayer partner for a specific day of the week and then keep each other accountable! PRAYER TIP # 10 - Let Prayer Be Your First Line of Defense

"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,  being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints." Ephesians 6:18

How can prayer be our first line of defense? Establish a consistent prayer life now, and pray about things before they become an emergency. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in knowing who and what to be in prayer for. Pray for your family and friends daily by name, covering them in prayer for whatever they will face. By praying daily, consistently, and following the leading of the Holy Spirit, prayer will not be our backup plan, but our intentional spiritual strategy.

PRAYER POINTS - (Pray over these requests)

  • Lord, we ask that everything we do at Mid-Way Baptist Church will be honoring and glorifying to You.

  • Please give Pastor Grant and the Pastoral Staff wisdom and discernment as they shepherd Your people through this trying time.

  • We ask that every person in our church family that is sick with the coronavirus would have a quick and complete healing in Jesus' Name.

  • Lord, we ask You to come against the enemy, in the Name of Jesus and by the Blood of Jesus, and protect us from the wicked schemes of the evil one.

SUGGESTED PRAYER -

Father God, I come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and I humbly ask You to work on my behalf. Let me come to You as my first line of defense against the enemy and not as a last resort. Lord, help me to establish a consistent and strong prayer life, seeking Your help in all that I do.

Lord, I ask that everything done in our Church will be honoring to You. I ask You to give wisdom to Pastor Grant and the entire staff as they lead our church family through this difficult time.

Father, I ask that You would lay Your healing hand on anyone in the Mid-Way family that has the coronavirus, or any other sickness, and that they would make a complete recovery.

Jesus, I ask You to come against the enemy, in the Name of Jesus, and by the Blood of Jesus. I resist the enemy and ask You to protect us from his wicked schemes by Your mighty power. I thank You, Jesus, that You are bigger and more powerful than any problem that I face, and that You are still on the throne.

In Jesus' Name, Amen.
