Women’s Prayer Team - Week 17
This week, I was asked the question, “where do you see God most glorified in your story?” I was stumped, as some of you may be right now trying to answer this same question. I began to ponder on it thinking of what my response would be. Then it came to me: I see God most glorified in my friendships. I never thought this would be my answer, because I have struggled with friendships my whole life. I have lost best friend after best friend ever since I was six years old. However, the Lord has a way of redeeming and restoring some of the most difficult things in our lives. The Lord has blessed me with the sweetest friendships, and I see God glorified in the intentionality, vulnerability, and confession I have with my dearest friends!
PRAYER TIP # 17 - Pray for community.
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.
For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is
alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
James 5:16
Community is living life together in the good seasons and the bad. The older I get, the more I am reminded of its importance! We weren’t made to do this life alone! We were made for community! As we see in the verses above, "Two are better than one...For if they fall, one will lift up his companion." We are supposed to pick one another up, to encourage one another, and to sharpen one another.
One of the biggest blessings in my friendships has been vulnerability and confession. My husband does this every week with his best friends and has encouraged me to do so as well. In the verse above it states, "confess your trespasses (sins) to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed." There is healing when our sins are brought to the light! We are to bear one another’s burdens! This is what community is! I see God most glorified in my friendships because of the confession and vulnerability that I have with some of my dearest friends, Katie and Emma! I encourage you to do the same! It is difficult and embarrassing to be vulnerable and confess, yet there is so much freedom and healing that comes from it!
Prayer Points:
Thank You for community & its importance.
Thank You for Your example of community shown in the Bible.
Lord, I ask that You will bless me with community and fellowship that is honoring to You.
Lord, I ask that You will give me the boldness and the courage to be vulnerable in my friendships.
Suggested Prayer – Pray these words in your heart or out loud:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You for who You are! I thank You for Your goodness, redemption, and restoration in my life even when I am so undeserving of it! Thank You for the gift of community and the importance of it! I am thankful for Your example of community that is so prevalent in the Scriptures! Lord, I ask that You will bless me daily with community and fellowship that is honoring to You! Help me to have the boldness and the courage to be vulnerable in my friendships! Lord, thank You for the freedom and the healing that comes from confession!
In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
Your Friend,
Brooke Hartley
