Pray for Deliverance - 11.13.20

Updated: Nov 24, 2020

God is my deliverer. He has delivered me from my own sin and Satan's attacks in an instant, and other times it has taken a process of months or years. Sometimes is was the product of prayer and fasting, other times it took other women in my life praying for me and encouraging me. Regardless of how He did it, the Lord has continued to deliver me from my darkest hours. There are seasons where we all need deliverance. No matter how hard we strive to live for Christ, or how much we pray and immerse ourselves in community, we still have a sinful nature as well as an enemy who is seeking whom he may devour. Jesus Himself taught us to pray for deliverance from the enemy.

Prayer Tip #27 - Pray for Deliverance

"And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.." Matthew 6:13

God instructed us to pray this because He knew there would be times when we need to be delivered. Jesus came to defeat any evil thing that binds us. Yet so often we live like a slave to our sin and to the enemies plans. We need to remember that Jesus came to lift us above the enemy who wants to destroy us. We don't have to go along with Satan's plans. If you cry out to Him, He will set you free! It is a promise. Sometimes it will happen in an instant, sometimes it will be a process. But if you will ask God, and work to trust and follow Him, He will deliver you. Sometimes we are fully responsible for the things happening in our lives, but sometimes there are plans of the enemy going against us that we must be delivered from.

It is God who has delivered us from so great a death. Jesus gave His life so that we do not have to be a slave to anything other than Him. Don't give up if it is taking longer than you hoped for. Drown out the lies that you will never get free by praising God. In the moments when you start sliding back into those same sinful habits, begin praying and praising God. Keep fighting and trust that "He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" Philippians 1:6. And once you are delivered, share it with others! Encourage someone by revealing what God has done in your life. God has promised to set you free, and He always keeps His promises.

Please remember to take time to call a friend this week to pray and agree to believe God together.

Prayer Points - (Pray over these requests)

  • Lord, thank You for promising to deliver me from every evil work.

  • God, I depend on You to reveal the enemies strongholds in my life.

  • Jesus, help me to stand firm in the freedom that You have given me.

  • Lord, I specifically ask that You deliver me from (name a specific area where you want to be set free.)

  • Give me patience to not give up and the strength to stand in Your Word.

SUGGESTED PRAYER -

Lord,

Thank You for promising to deliver me from every evil work. God, I depend on You to reveal the enemies strongholds in my life. Jesus, help me to stand firm in the freedom that You have given me. I specifically ask that You deliver me from (name a specific area where you want to be set free.) Give me patience to not give up and the strength to stand in Your Word. In Jesus name I pray that I would be set free from every stronghold and evil thing holding me captive, Amen.
