Pray for Strong Faith in God

Updated: May 10, 2022

Our faith in God is so valuable. In fact, the Scriptures tell us that our faith in God is worth more than gold – a true genuine faith in Jesus is more precious than gold and even in the fire, it can stand the test, and be proved genuine.

That the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold

that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to

praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ

1 Peter 1:7

But what is faith? Faith is a fixed or profound trust in God and His Word. Faith is simply believing God, and it is essential to living out the Christian life. We are saved by faith. (Romans 3:28; Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 2:8) and we are called to live by faith. (Romans 1:17)

The moment you are saved, you become God’s child, and God says that He holds you in His hands. The enemy knows that he cannot snatch you away, so he tries to steal your faith, cause you to question your faith, or water-down your faith.

I want to encourage you today to HOLD ON to your FAITH!!!! Your faith in God is a powerful weapon: It is part of the Armor of God, “The Shield of Faith,” In Ephesians 6:16.

Above all, taking the shield of faith with

which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

Ephesians 6:16

This Shield protects us from the fiery darts of the enemy who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy our lives. It’s not easy, but it’s worth the fight to pick up that shield and let it protect you.

But our faith can be fragile when we have endured hurts and disappointments in life. Some of us have been hurt by the church, or others who profess to know Christ. This is hard to reconcile, and it can truly damage our hearts and impact our faith. This is when our faith is tested, to see if it is genuine. Ask God to help you hold onto your faith in Him, no matter what happens in your life.

Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

James 1:3

I want to encourage you to take your hurts to God, and believe in faith that He can heal them. He alone can bring beauty from ashes and restore the broken places in your heart. Do not run from God, but run to God, the Loving Father who patiently waits for us to return to Him and develop a deep and abiding trust that He is a good Father who loves us, cares for us, and wants the best for our lives.

As a Child of God, everything we do is to be done in faith. We are to walk by faith and not by sight. (2 Cor. 5:7) Romans 1:17b “The just shall live by faith.” We are to live our life by faith… trusting and believing God and His Word, and that our faith can grow and increase. (Luke 17:5) Our faith can move the “mountains” in our life. (Matthew 21:21) God wants us to be “full of faith.” (Acts. 6:8)

And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”

Luke 17:5

But remember that Faith is a fight. Scripture encourages us that we must “fight the good fight of faith!" (I Timothy 6:12) It’s not easy to have a strong faith in God, we must see the value of it and fight for it – the fruit of faith is eternal life with our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

1 Timothy 6:12

We can take the time to enrich our faith by reading the Bible, praying, and listening to Worship Music. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. (Romans 10:17)

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 10:17

This is why it’s so important to come to church and hear the Word of God! It strengthens our faith! We are to keep the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7) The Apostle Paul said at the end of his Life: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7

And finally, without faith, it is impossible to please God! (Hebrews 11:6) But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

If we really want to please God, we must simply believe Him, trust Him, rely upon Him, and take Him at His Word. Our faith is so important. Don’t let the world or the enemy try to steal your faith from you – HOLD onto Your FAITH with everything that you have.

Prayer Tip #17 - Pray for strong Faith in God

Prayer Points - Pray over these requests:

  • God, I confess that I need to be in Your Word to build up my faith.

  • God, I admit that there have been times that my faith has waivered. Please strengthen my faith in You alone.

  • Lord, I want to keep the faith like the Apostle Paul. Please Help me to never loose my faith in You my whole life through.

Suggested Prayer - Pray these words in your heart or out loud:

Lord, I thank You for the faith that I do have in You. I thank You for the shield of faith that protects me from the enemy. I ask You to increase my faith in You, and heal the places of my heart that have been hurt by others. I don’t want anyone or anything to steal away my faith. I believe that my faith is worth more than gold, and I pray that when I go through hard times, my faith will be proved genuine.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
