Pray for the Lord to guide our steps

Women’s Prayer Team - Week 1

I grew up in a military family and lived overseas a few times during my childhood. When I was in middle school, we lived in Guam and we didn’t have a lot of different channels on TV to choose from. We did, however, have our trustly VHS player. My Mom had ordered several different VHS series for us to take over so that we could watch things that reminded us of life in the U.S. One of those movies was “Anne of Green Gables.” I absolutely loved, and still do, this movie! In a certain scene, Anne, an orphan girl who always seems to be getting into mischief, is talking to her teacher, Miss Stacey. Anne had made her best friend, Diana Barry's mother upset, to which Miss Stacey responded: "Tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it."

PRAYER TIP #1 – Pray for the Lord to Guide us as we step into the new year!

Just as Miss Stacey mentions, another day is a fresh start. It’s the same with a new year. A new year with no mistakes in it! Sounds pretty amazing, doesn’t it? A new year is a fresh start on so many things. Many times we set health goals, reading goals, drinking more water goals, and the list goes on. But more importantly, a new year provides a new and fresh slate for the Lord to work in our hearts and lives!

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,

Because His compassions fail not.

They are new every morning;

Great is Your faithfulness.

“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,

“Therefore I hope in Him!”

Lamentations 3:22-24

Behold, I will do a new thing,

Now it shall spring forth;

Shall you not know it?

I will even make a road in the wilderness

And rivers in the desert.

Isaiah 43:19

2023 is a blank page – how will you fill it?

Prayer Points:

  • Lord, thank You for fresh starts and new beginnings!

  • Lord, help me be aware of new opportunities to serve You this year.

  • Lord, help me bring You glory this year.

  • Lord, help me be open to new things You have for me this year.

Suggested Prayer - Pray these words in your heart or out loud:

Dear Gracious Father,

I come before You in the Name of Jesus and praise You for a new year to serve You! Thank You that Your mercies are new every morning. I praise You that mistakes of my past do not hold Your blessings back from my future. Please help me to take opportunities that You place in my path and use them for Your honor and glory. Help me to use this year to find ways to serve You better.

Because of His Grace,

Amanda Dyson
