Faith in every season

Women’s Prayer Team - Week 6

About a month ago, I was in a “rough patch” in many different areas of my life. In that season, my faith had been lacking in the Lord. I had doubted many times in the season that I was in, whether that be in decisions that needed to be made, insurance, school for my husband this year in the fall, finances, the future, etc. I wanted all these different areas of my life to go the way I intended for it to be, that I lost sight and faith of the Lord leading me in the direction of His Will and His Way.

I cannot tell you how many times I have heard the word “faith” last month and this month! I have been reminded several times during my devotions of people who doubted and people who had faith. One of the most beautiful stories that has stuck with me is David in Psalm 13:

How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me? Consider and hear me, O Lord my God; Enlighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him”; lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

Psalm 13:1-4

In this passage of Scripture, David is expressing raw and sincere emotion. David has forgotten the Lord is with him and begins to doubt. However, the beauty in this is we see David’s words begin to shift throughout the rest of Psalm 13:

But I have trusted in Your mercy; my heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me.

Psalm 13:5-6

In these verses, instead of doubting, David begins to have faith and trust in the goodness of God. Even in the rawest and sincere emotion he was feeling, he still turned to the Lord and had faith. David will sing to the Lord because He has been good to him.

PRAYER TIP #6 – Pray for faith in every season.

My word for this year has begun to shift to faith. I have begun to see the doubt and confusion of the season I was in turn to good and FAITHFULNESS. I went to Passion – a young adult’s event in January, and many of the speakers talked about FAITH. Mid-Way, our church family, is doing a 40-day devotion on FAITH. Our Refuge Connect Weekend theme, coming up in March, is on FAITH. I have been reminded time and time again of the Lord’s goodness and faithfulness! He has never failed me, and He never will! In being reminded of this, I have no reason to not trust the Lord. If anything, it encouraged me more to have faith in the Lord, His will, and His timing.

Let this be an encouragement to you to not give up! Fight the good fight of faith! Keep pressing on! Even in the doubt and the difficulty, the Lord remains good and faithful to us! Trust in the Lord’s will, way, and timing!

Prayer Points:

  • Lord, thank You for Your goodness and faithfulness in my life.

  • Lord, help me to have faith in every season, even in the season of confusion and doubt.

  • When I am going through a tough season, Lord, guide me to Your will and Your way for my life.

  • Lord, help me to trust You in everything and to have faith that can move mountains.

Suggested Prayer - Pray these words in your heart or out loud:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your goodness and Your faithfulness in my life! You have been faithful time and time again! You are the ultimate example of faithfulness, and I pray that I will model it in my life! I want to be known by my faith in You and not by the doubt. Father, I ask for faith in every season, even the seasons of confusion and doubt. Lord, guide me to Your will and Your way for my life! Help me to have faith that can move mountains! Thank You again for never giving up on me and remaining faithful even in my faithlessness! I love You, Lord!

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
