Pray "Breath Prayers" - 11.6.20

Updated: Dec 1, 2020

"I'm too busy to pray!" Have you ever said this to yourself, or felt like this? I know many of us have. We, as women, have so much on our plate, from our careers, to our kids, household tasks, running errands, extended family time, commitments, and other activities that we barely have enough time to catch our breath, let alone, take time to pray.

Prayer Tip #26 - Pray "Breath Prayers"  "Then He spoke a parable to them,  that men always ought to pray and not lose heart," - Luke 18:1

We are busy. It's as simple as that. But we cannot neglect our need to commune with our God. It's a misconception that we have to stop everything and "get alone with God" to speak to Him. Yes, alone time with God is also essential, but most of your waking day you are around people. So instead of waiting to pray for a long period of uninterrupted time, use the method of "Breath Prayers" to talk to God throughout the day.

Simple prayers like "God, I need Your help", "Jesus, please be with my children today", "God, please protect my family", "Lord, forgive me for what I said" or "God, I trust You in this situation and I give it to You completely" are all one-sentence prayers that we can pray throughout the day, no matter what we're doing - driving, getting dressed, eating, running errands, taking care of kids, or working, etc.

Pastor Upchurch, our founding Pastor, used to say "Be in a spirit of prayer." No matter where we are, and what we are doing, we can stay connected to God by communicating our thoughts and feelings to Him, expressing that we need His help, and asking for His guidance by offering up short prayers all day long!

Please remember to take time to call a friend this week to pray and agree to believe God together.

Prayer Points - (Pray over these requests)

  • Lord, help me to be in a spirit of constant communication with You throughout the day.

  • God, teach me to find the beauty and joy in being in a spirit of prayer, even when I'm busy.

  • Jesus, help me to make a habit of telling You how I feel and asking for Your help all day long.

  • Lord, help me to use "breath prayers" to keep in communion with You.

SUGGESTED PRAYER -

Dear God,

I thank You that You are omnipresent, and I can pray to You anytime and anywhere. I thank You that You desire to hear my thoughts, feelings, and concerns. Help me to take the time to offer up short prayers throughout the day to stay connected to You and to include You in the details of my life.

In Jesus' Name, Amen
