Pray for eyes fixed on Jesus

We are a part of a story that is constantly moving up. We see in the Bible where it is stated that “God lifted me up” and “God lifted me out.” The Holy City of Jerusalem is on the top of a mountain. You would have to go up to be on the holy city, and you would lift your eyes up to the hills. We are in a daily story and journey of moving up and out with God.

We see that even in creation, there are peaks and valleys, and highs and lows. This is the story of our lives and Jesus' life. Jesus was eternally up until He chose to come all the way down to be born in a manger in Bethlehem. His very presence was a threat to the rulers, so He was taken down to Egypt. Jesus comes back and established a ministry that included days where He was applauded and loved, and days where He was attacked and hated. He went on the top of a mountain where His glory was shown, and came down to the Garden of Gethsemane where He knelt before His Father to say "yes" to the plan God had for Him. Jesus was lifted up on a cross and taken down off the cross into a borrowed tomb. He then came up from the grave and conquered death, hell, and sin. He was raised up to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help?

My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Psalm 121:1-2

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,

and all these things shall be added to you.

Matthew 6:33

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith,

who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross,

despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:2

PRAYER TIP #35 - Pray for eyes fixed on Jesus.

Jesus had a lot of peaks and valleys, a lot of highs and lows. We will go through moments of both highs and lows in our own lives. For many of us, we have gone through the deepest and darkest part of our lives where some of us have thought that we were not going to make it. Many have lost loved ones, gone through heartbreak, had loved ones who are sick and in need of healing, etc. However, there will be moments where we will be in the highest of highs where we will experience the presence of God like never before. Ultimately, we need to know that as Christians, in the end we will have ultimate victory in Jesus' Name.

Regardless if our situations and circumstances in life go sideways, up, or down, our eyes need to be fixed on the Lord. One thing that always remains the same is that the Lord is never changing. He is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. We have to fix our eyes on things of eternal value even when our world and life seems like it is crumbling. We have hope in the Name of Jesus! In the end, we have victory and will be with the Father! That is the highest we can ever go!

Prayer Points - (Pray over these requests)

  • Pray for eyes fixed on Jesus.

  • Pray to fix our eyes on things of eternal value.

  • Pray to look up when our life and world looks like they are going sideways or down.

  • Pray to have hope, faith, and peace that only He can give us.

Suggested Prayer - (Pray these words in your heart or out loud):

Dear Lord,

Thank You for another day of life and blessings that You have poured upon us. You are good even when my circumstances and life are not. Even when my life seems like it is going sideways or in the deepest valley, You are there with me through it all. I pray that I will have eyes that are fixed on You through every circumstance in my life. I pray that I will fix my eyes on things above and of eternal value. I pray for hope, faith, and peace that only You can give me. Thank You for everything that You have done and everything that You will continue to do in my life. I praise You in the peaks and in the valleys. Thank You for Your love, grace, and mercy. Thank You for choosing me!

In Jesus’ Name, Amen
