Women's Prayer Team - Week #22

I have found it so beautiful to continue to be amazed and fathomed by God’s Word! My husband and I were doing our devotions together on our porch last Saturday morning. I was telling him how amazed I was in reading Acts 3 because of the story of Peter healing the lame beggar in Jesus’ Name. Peter gives all the praise and glory to God and begins to share the Gospel with the people of Israel!

I hope this passage of Scripture that I am about to share is an encouragement to you like it has been to me!

Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed. So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go.

Acts 3:11-13

And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

Acts 3:16

Prayer Tip # 22 – Pray for Humility and Boldness.

In reading these verses, I was in awe by the humility and boldness that Peter had! I even began to be amazed that it was Peter who said all of this, because it was Peter who took his eyes off Jesus and began to sink when walking on water, it was Peter who rebuked Jesus for speaking of His death, it was Peter who attacked the servant of the high priest, it was Peter who denied Jesus three times, and so forth. Yet, it was Peter who healed the lame beggar in Jesus’ Name. It was Peter who was telling the people of Israel that it was not by his own power that this lame man walked. It was Peter telling the people of Israel that it was by God’s power and strength that this man was healed. It was Peter who gave God the glory and praise He deserves. It was Peter who later in the passage shared the Gospel with the people of Israel!

This was such an encouragement to me, because how often do we want to take the glory and credit for ourselves? It’s so easy when people give us praise to smile so big and say “thank you” rather than saying “Praise God”. I want to be that person that is known for giving God the glory and praise He deserves! I want to be that person that has the humility and boldness to tell people about my Jesus! I pray you will want to be that person as well!

Prayer Points: Please pray over these requests:

  • God, I ask for humility in giving praise and glory back to You.

  • God, I ask for a boldness to proclaim Your Name every single day.

  • Help me to always be amazed and fathomed by Your Word, God.

  • Help me to shine the light of Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for who You are. You are so good and gracious even when we are so undeserving of it! God, I thank You for Your Son, Jesus. I thank You for the humility that was shown in Him being born in a manger! God, I ask for humility and boldness in praising and proclaiming Your Name every single day! Father, I ask for You to help me to always be amazed and fathomed by Your Word! Thank You for being a good Father! I love You, God!

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your Friend,

Brooke Hartley
