Prayer is a Relationship of Love

Updated: Dec 9, 2021

Fellowshipping with God takes place when we pray. It should be our greatest delight to spend time with the Giver and not just enjoying the gifts He gives. The relationship of love grows when God is our greatest joy. Spending time with God in prayer becomes more of growing a loving relationship with Him instead of following a routine to make sure we mention all our requests. Rather than thinking of prayer as a time to drop off all our burdens on the Lord and say amen, we should express our affection to our Father and rejoice in the privilege of oneness with Him. Prayer is meant to be a joyful bond between God’s children and their loving heavenly Father that flourishes from day to day. Plant the seed of delighting in God and watch it grow.

Prayer Tip – # 42 Prayer is a Relationship of Love

“Then I will go to the altar of God,

To God my exceeding joy;

And on the harp I will praise You,

O God, my God.”

Psalm 43:4

“When religion loses its sovereign character and becomes mere form, this spontaneity is lost also, and in its place come precedent, propriety, system-and the file-card mentality.” A.W. Tozer

Prayer Points – (Pray over these requests):

  • Help us to learn to delight in You continually.

  • We ask that we put our relationship above our burdens.

  • We thank You that You care about our challenges in life.

  • May we remember to not make prayer just going over a list of requests.

Dear Lord,

We are filled with joy that You always desire a closeness with us. May we respond to the love and dedication that You freely offer. We ask You to forgive us when we come to You with our list of requests without expressing our love and appreciation to You for all You have done for us. Help us to grow in the bond of joyful relationship with You.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen
